NCCET President's Message
2016-2017 NCCET President
Greetings to all our members, both current and prospective:
As your 2016-17 NCCET president, thank you for your membership and I encourage you to take full advantage of all our organization has to offer. I am honored to serve as your president and pledge my best efforts, with the help of the board, to ensure your access to the resources you need to survive, even thrive, in these challenging times.
Established in 1969, NCCET boasts over 1200 members from 48 states, and 120 institutions, from the U.S., Canada, British Virgin Islands, and globally. We are your premier organization for networking, professional development, and best practices in workforce, economic development, and community education.
As an affiliate council of AACC we'll ensure your voice is heard at the national level. Our board leadership represents you through AACC's Coalition of Affiliate Councils and the Workforce Development Council. NCCET will bring to the forefront the pertinent issues and challenges our membership faces. We'll work diligently to ensure that NCCET is part of the conversation.
In our profession, we must stay agile and be able to evolve to meet the most pressing needs of our communities and constituents. So, too, has NCCET's mission evolved. We're now more focused and deliberate in our effort to reflect the dynamic roles we play. Our mission supports our members' needs at the forefront of innovation, catalyzing change, and creating value.
For the 2016-17 year, we'll keep a strong focus on the professional resources needed to support your success. Our initiatives include an emphasis on pathways from noncredit to credit, research that supports trends and projections, and providing you with a number of networking and professional development opportunities.
The NCCET Annual Conference is our flagship event. This year's event in the great city of Boston, Oct. 3rd - 5th, is sure to provide excellent opportunities for networking and professional development. Also consider attending the pre- and post-conference leadership sessions and join the growing number of alumni learning from, and contributing to, our professional network.
NCCET is committed to meeting your needs. Please feel free to reach out to our executive director, Jennifer Starkey, or me, if you have other items or projects on which you'd like us to engage.
I look forward to seeing you in Boston and appreciate the opportunity to serve.
