Karen Martley is the Vice President of Continuing Education and Organizational Development at Johnson County Community College.    She has worked at JCCC for 25 years in workforce development and organizational development.  Prior to JCCC, she worked in sales, employee development and logistics for 13 years at Sprint.

Karen works with individuals, businesses, economic development councils, chambers and professional organizations to provide workforce development solutions.   She serves on a variety of committees and boards in the community.  She has her Bachelor of Arts in Business Management, Master of Science in Human Resource Management and 30 hours of post graduate credit. Karen is a graduate of the Chair Leadership Academy, JCCC Leadership Institute, Kansas City Professional Development Supervisory Program and Leadership Olathe.   

Karen is certified as a Leadership Coach through the Center for Executive Coaching.   She is certified as a Master Trainer for Development Dimensions International (DDI) leadership programming and a certified facilitator of the following programs:  

  • Living as a Leader
  • DiSC Assessment
  • DDI 360 Leadership Mirror
  • DDI Leadership Assessment Center
  • StrengthsFinder
  • AchieveGlobal Leadership Development

Elisa brings her past experiences as an attorney, retail store owner, small business consultant and grant administrator to her current position as Dean of Continuing Education at Johnson County Community College.  Elisa and her colleagues in Continuing Education deliver dynamic opportunities to enhance career development and deepen personal enrichment. Elisa is passionate about offering innovative solutions to support the local and regional workforce and community.

Elisa opened her small business with the assistance of the Kansas Small Business Development Center at JCCC.  Upon selling her studio in 2005, Elisa joined the Kansas SBDC as a Consultant; she became the Regional Director of the Kansas SBDC in 2015. Prior to joining the Kansas SDBC, Elisa practiced law in the Kansas City area and worked as an adjunct professor at DePaul University Law School in Chicago.  

Elisa is an Adjunct Instructor of Business Law and Legal Analysis and Writing at JCCC.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Theory from Harvard University and her J.D. from George Washington University. When Elisa is not working, she enjoys traveling far and wide with her husband and their two teenage sons.

Elisa is a certified facilitator of the following programs:

Debbie Rulo

Debbie Rulo is the Director of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships for Johnson County Community College. She has worked for the college nearly 24 years in Continuing Education and Workforce Development. Prior to working at JCCC, Debbie worked for Sprint in training and development.

Debbie works within the business community and across the JCCC Campus connecting individuals and organizations where there is a need. She also works with various national vendors, bringing the best training opportunities to the region.

Debbie has a Bachelor of Science, in General Business Administration and a Master of Science in Management.  She is a graduate of the Chair Leadership Academy, JCCC’s Leadership Institute, Kansas City Professional Development Supervisory Program, and Leadership Lenexa.
